explorer camshaft sensor...help
98 explorer 4.0 SOHC V6...anyone got a picture of where the camshaft sensor is on this? All the info we find sounds odd. Says that it's on the left-hand cover, how is that possible if it's only a SOHC? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Your engine is in the shape of a vee and there is one camshaft at the top of each side of the vee for a total of two. It is called a SOHC since they use the same camshaft to control both the intake and exhaust valves. DOHC engines use seperate camshafts for the intake and exhaust valves. You will find your camshaft position sensor on the top of the left valve cover between your oil fill cap and dipstick.
