Hello fellow Fordsters, Ive got a 94 f-150 4x4, that likes to roll in the front end in corners, Id like a purchase a sway bar to put on it, but after looking at a few, they seem to come with everything except mounting brackets, i looked under the truck and I dont see where they would hook up on the suspension anywhere, i can see where it would bolt to the frame on both sides, but not where it would go on the suspension, does anybody have any info on this ? id hate to buy one and have nowhere to mount it. any ideas would be appreciated, thanks.
Are you sure you dont have a sway / stabilizer bar on your truck ? It will attach to the very front crossmember , just under the radiator support & have two links to both the left & right side of the axle arms that attach with links to just outside the shocks . I thought all 4x4's had them ?
You need to replace the front spring perches with a pair that have the clevises for the sway-bar end links. I bought mine at a pick and pull, dealers are way too expensive.
Hello again, thanks for the replys, i looked up under the front end again and there is nuthing under the springs that the swaybar would mount to, none of the local junkyards have any trucks period, go figure, huh, does this mounting plate actually mount up under the coil springs ? as in you have to remove the springs to put them there ? does anybody know where these mounting brackets can be purchased besides the dealer or where i could buy the bar and brackets together ? everything ive seen just has the bar only. also would a front end alignment have to be done afterwards, as far as Paul`s post, i thought all 4x4`s had them too but mine doesnt, i bought it when it used, 1 year old, you would think if the original owner removed it, it would still have the brackets on the axle assembly if you have to remove the coil springs to take it off, so im still kinda at a loss, but ill keep researching it and checking here for more tips. thanks again for the help
