Exhaust

I had a '99 F350 4:10 rear with a six speed and a chip, was really happy with it. I moved to a '04 F350 auto 3:73 rear. Well the fuel economy sucks on this new truck. I've put a hyperchip programmer in this new one , still the same. What I did two days ago I hope will help, I cut everything, on the exhaust, out of the way. I'm now running nothing but 3 1/2 pipe from the front to the back. What I wanted to know from the experts is will doing this hurt anything on the truck. It sounds like a jet turbine out of the tailpipe now. Thanks for all the help.,

I have read in here some posts that said the 6.0L needed some back pressure for the movable turbine blades to operate correctly????
