I walked passed the right (pass side) of my 78 tonight to get something out of my tool box after driving her. and there was a fuel odor so I popped the hood and checked my fuel pump/lines/fuel filter hoses/clamps and they where bone dry but when I got to the carb (FYA 1bbl) I felt around thinking it loosened but no and I'm thinking what the crap so I feel around some more on the carb and where the accelorater pump goes up through the bottom of carb thier was just some wet traces of gas. Dad said that that part of the carb has no gasket and it might seep a little but it is nothing to worry about that it is just a crappy design.( it was NOT dripping and the carb base was NOT wet and the carb is less than two years old.

turn the throttle with the motor off and watch to see if gas squirts out of it, if it does replace it.....you might as well throw a rebuild kit in it just so you know all the gaskets are good, i rebuild my holley every 2 years or so just for good measure.......
I have a 1977 highboy ranger xlt and it smells like gas all the time in my garage. Mostly for about 4 to five hours after I come home.
Checked for leaks and found none anywhere.I have one tank only and it is behind the seat in the cab.
I wait for the day my water heater kicks on and woosh there goes the house.
I have no idea where to start to look for an answere.
