Hello to all by the way!! I have a 88 f150 and the seat adjuster must have broke on the bench seat...i cant get the pass. side to go back and i was fooling around with it and cant figure it out..I have a long piece of wire like thing hangin down under the seat and for the life of me cant figure out where it hooks to.Any help will be appreciated!!! Thanks Sam
Same thing happend to my truck... Look on the drivers side and see where the wire hooks to. Its the same on the pass side... I hooked mine back up on th pass side... but I cant get it to work still...
It is probably easier to fix the seat if you pull the seat out of the truck. The tracks, and seat just unbolt from the floor and lift up. Spray a little penetrating oil on the nuts in case of rust. It is also a great time to add some white lithium grease to obvious places that would help improve the operation of the rollers too.
The long wire is the transfer wire from one side to the other to actuate the seat release on the rail. The spring is attached to the lug (for want of a better word) on the inside of the rail to set the lug when the seat actuator is released. Look for a small eye on the inside of the rail that will take the long wire. It should be loose and a replacement spring will cause it to seat, locking the rail in the desired seat position.
