A month or so ago I put headers on my truck. I didn't put my battery termanls back on tight, since I was in a rush to try it out. I went up to the dunes and got sand all over my engine. Well I came back didn't think much of it. Was heading home from school a couple days ago my truck wouldn't start. I remembered my battery terminal was lose, and my battery was expired. So I rattled the wire a little and my friend started my truck. Wasn't worried or anything. So today I pull around and shut off my truck, go to start it up and it wont start. I turn on my headlights and everything and they don't turn on. So I figured my batterys expried go up and buy a new battery, and the same thing is still happening? You think some sand corroded onto wires, and isn't letting them get a good connection? Should i hose off my engine, and take w irebrush and see if it fixes it?
When I have my key out of my ignition, and a battery terminal connected, I will put the other one on and it starts sparking. Does that mean a wire is touching another one?
you should check the wire going from the battery to the starter. it runs next to the headers and it might be touching the pipes. the plastic around the wire could have melted off, and you could be getting a short. give it a shot the same thing happened to me on one of my trucks, a new wire and i was good again. also make sure that your battery is fully charged. any of the big name parts stores give free battery checks.
Jesus can't believe I did that. I put the battery in the opposite way. Had the red connected to pos and black connected to neg, but the battery was the wrong way so in reality it was reversed.
