steering column rebuild
I've read some of the earlier posts about finding the parts for the steering column bearings and sleeves, and the upper bearing replacement seems pretty straight forward, but how do you get the lower bearing and sleeve off and on? It looks like that the lower end of the shaft would be obstructed by the large piece that attaches to the rag joint.

I took out the entire column. The rag joint attaches to the steering rod that holds the steering wheel. The bearing is on the shift tube and the race for the bearing is on the steering rod. Once it is all apart it is interesting to see how it works. The most difficult part is cutting and splicing the wires for the connector. Good luck. Billemc

Thanks for the reply. So it looks like once the whole column is removed then the steering wheel, turn signal switch and wiring harness, then the outer tube should slide off to get to the lower bearing?
