IT GETS WORSE!! AHHHHHHH! Yesterday I had took my uncle out to show him all what it was doing and parked it. Drove thru town to the freeway onramp nicely... I babied it part of the way, but realized i was only going 30-40 and so I gave it some gas and when it should have gone into second, the engine just reved up all the way to 6k. Being semi shocked/scared/what the hell was that, I let off right away and it violentley shifted either into second or back into third, was too distracted to look at the tach and see. Started trying to go again, same thing, rev to 6k. Babied it up to 55 and turned around at the next exit. While I was gone overnight, the fluid and filter was changed - all the same problems, still there.
A real encouraging note... Had a date last night, and her dad works on tranny's so I mentioned it to him and he said somthin about some vaccum hose and then asked what model of tranny I had, told him an e4od... His reply - "Thats the problem right there" :-p
Check the solder connections on the solenoid pack, they will crack over time from heating and cooling and cause funky problems. I would suspect that especially if it works fine when its cold. I had similar issues with my truck.
You have to pull the pan and filter off, but its right there. There is a brownish plastic cover over it pop that off and you'll see the solder connections Im refering to.
i have a 1995 f-250 and it just started doin the same things. at first it would chug all the time when i hit the gas hard, i would floor it and it wont go ne where then all of a sudden it would kick in, then it would stop doin it after a few min. if i turned the truck off then back on it would go away to. its setting off an O2 code cuz the service engie light is popin on but its not an O2. AND!! now all of sudden it jerks violently shifting every gear. i'm still trying to figure out why???
