Is the 460EFI manifold dual-plane?
I'm researching the possibility of adapting the EFI system to my 400m. If the manifold is dual-plane, as is the 400's, the mechanics of the conversion may be fairly simple.
the lower intake of the EFI460 is designed like a "dual plane" carb intake.
i don't know why that matters for your 400M project, but i hope this helps...
It does help, thanx. The idea is to modify a 400 manifold for fuel injectors, then adapt the 460 efi upper manifold to the 400 manifold. Since the stock 460 lower is dual-plane, I feel comfortable using an Edelbrock Performer. The 460 distributor fits the 400, so I'm covered if it's an efi-specific item. The only remaining question is which ECM to use.
This has been done, I've heard it run, I just didn't have the presence of mind to nail down the specifics other than that he was using a 5.0 ecm.
which ecm you use depends most on firing order.
other parameters such as injector pulse width and timing tables can be changed with a chip or tweecer.
460's have the same firing order as truck 302's... not sure about 400's
good luck
