Prime problems

I thought i posted this yesterday so forgive me If I lost it.
My fuel guage is acting funny when low. It's left me sucking air 2x this year. The Ford method of primeing is killing the system, batts, starter ect. Is there a better way of priming via the filter drain? where is the electric pump? after the filter or in the tank?
I can prime my kubota faster than the truck( oh the days of my old international)

Thanks. I don't know how I lost it! As to the drain.. Duuh,I guess Iwas blinded as to the small physics that keep us glued to the ground Is this schrader valve on the fuel filter as I haven't noticed it. It would help alot in purging the filter and line.I will locate it as I need to change the leaky O rings.Thanks.

On my 97 it's on the right side of the filter housing next to the FPR. it has a screw on cap just like the ones on your wheels.
