I have a 05 superduty V-10 with a westen 8" plow. I was plowing a drive way hit a good solid rock with the plow angled back at about 5 mph it stopped the truck dead in its tracks and I hit my head on the visor. I got out looked at the truck and it has a 3" gap between the bumper and the fender and the gap between the fender and the door is closed on the bottom. It turns out it bent the frame. I looked at the frame and just behind the fender it is pieced and welded from ford. The weld does not go completly from top to bottom, it stops about halfway across the frame .. Anybody else have this problem or this weld ? .. Thanks Bill
I push a 9' Fisher with my 04' F-350.V-10,,have found some objects, when plowing,,,,even bent the pin on the left power angle cylinder, (plow end),enough where I had to torch the pin to replace it,,,never did a thing to the truck.
Did you bend anything on the Western plow or frame,? Now that I think of it,,,a Western setup,,,seems to hookup lower on the truck,,which may give it more leverage on the truck frame,,,,,,hhhmmmm may be thats why?? The western plows I have seen have a 4 pin & link system, Fisher has like a ramp and wedge 2 pin system, the 4 pin setup hangs lower on the truck (frame),,Could be the cause of your troubles??
Yes I have a friend that has a body shop and should be able to straighten it .. Nothing bent on the plow frame that I can see yet. This is the newer western ultra mount and it mount the same as the fisher. (western ownes fisher). I have hit things much harder with my other fors with no problems. They also said the frames on the 05 were 15% thicker.. I guess they should be thicker when I drive ..Bill
