Another lift question

On ebay I saw an add for a 4" Spring Bracket Lift Kit. Says its very simular to the Fabtect bracket lift. Made from 1/4 plate, no drilling required, does not require replacement of track arm, pitman arm or shocks.

Anybody have any experiances on this kind of lift. I do no off roading.
Thanks

I have 4.5" DR hangers and shackle on my truck, no issues.

With a 4" lift you will need a pitman arm, trac bar bracket, and shocks....sway bar links are nice to get but not needed since you can flip the upper mount to under the frame rail.

didn't one user on this site buy those hangers off of ebay.. what were they, nixon performance, and had to have the welds rewelded because they were small, weak welds?

4" is geting to be a bit too much without the other items DC mentioned.

Full Traction also has a 4.5"

And the Rubicon Express is a 2.5" I believe, not a 2".

With hanger kits you'll even need new shocks with ones smaller than 4" since you are increasing the distance between the mounting points for the shocks in the front.

When installing a hanger kit, at what level are you guys seeing the need to get adjustable trac bars and anything else? It seems from the posts that I have read that up to around 3" you are fine with just the hangers and new shocks. At 3" to 4" hangers it gets blurry as to what is needed. DC just listed what is needed at 4" so what do you guys think?

DC- Do you like this lift? When i get some money together i am planning on getting it. Did you get the recommended adjustable pan rod (is it needed)?

I gathered from their site that 35" tires fit and ride is improved and no towing lost (exceot for bigger tires ofcourse). What you take on it?

Personally I would go with an adjustable trac bar with any size lift. You can get by without using one, but it may cause your axle to be off center, pull the driver's side down, and reinstalling the stock trac bar is more difficult.

4" and up is when you'll need the pitman arm, trac bar bracket, sway bar links, etc..

I like the 4.5" DR hanger and shackle. I run it in combintation with the 4" front Deaver springs from DR as well for a total of 8.5" of lift.
I do have a adjustable pan rod bar (aka trac bar) on my truck. Makes install go smoother since you aren't fighting with the stock trac bar.

Ride is improved since they retain the stock springs (so no increase in spring rate) and provide shocks valved specifically for the SD (which are an improvement over the stock shocks). The rear is just a bigger block, so no change in towing/payload capacity. You can get aftermarket tires and wheels that are rated for more weight than the stock tire/wheel package.

Hope this helps.

Another issue that is worth bringing up is brake lines. I have the DR 4.5" on my '04 dually, and when it was in the shop this week having the rear main seal fixed the tech had it up on the lift with the axles at full droop and showed me just how stretched the brake lines were. Needless to say I'm getting extended brake lines tomorrow. And if you have the time, read my "new brake lines, bleed brakes?" thread and see if there's anything else I should know. mcjones44us and 99f350sd gave great instructions on bleeding the brakes.
