Factory Subwoofer Question
I was lead to understand that the EB Expy's came with factory subwoofers... Just wondering, what years did they get them and where did Ford hide the woofer? I'm looking to upgrade the stereo in my 2000 XLT and would like an alternative to putting a big carpeted box in my valuable cargo area. Please don't say,"Where the rear heater would be". hehe.

Don't think of getting the ford enclosure somewhere. It's not ridgid enough. Mtx makes lunloaded, loaded, and loaded/amplified models that fit that area out of view. Do a search under thunderforms. There are several threads...

MTX Thunderform is OK, but I believe the JL Audio Stealthbox is much better. I actually have a Stealthbox that I had in my previous truck (97 F150). It has two 8" drivers, sounds awesome. I would highly recommend a Stealthbox to anyone. They have a model for the 97-02 Expy that fits in the same location as the stock sub (passenger side cargo area) with one 10" driver (300W RMS power handling @ 3 ohms). Just make sure you get a powerful enough amp to match.

From what I've heard about the Thunderform, the resin enclosure doesn't sound quite as good as wood, lacks the "punch" of a sealed wood enclosure.
