Locker Installation
Does installing the Auburn Conical require removing the ring and pinion or not? The pictures lead me to believe the ring gear mounts on it. Its my experience that when you remove the ring gear or put it on a diferent carrier the rear end gets noisy. I have paid to several done at various shops and they always worn me that if they install a used ring and pinion it will not be quiet; they were always right.
I read someplace that the PowerTrac does not require the Ring and Pinion to come out. It this true?
I've got a seeping pinion seal. Can I just go ahead and remove the pinion and then reassemble the rear end (using a new crush sleeve and seal) and not have to check the ring and pinion for back lash, etc?
I never set up a rear end but I've built dozens of manual transmissions and engines over the years. I want to change to 3.73 gears later (when I get the money together) but can install the locker now I will do the ring and pinion myself when the time comes to install it.
