Hi guys! I got back from Iraq last summer and bought a truck. It is a 1994 F150 with a 300 I-6 EFI with an automatic and 160000 miles on the clock. It was owned by the highway dept. for the first 130,000 miles of it's life, then a college student, then me. It does not have a tick or a knock in it, it also does not burn a DROP of oil between changes(3000 miles). I have never had a straight six efi before. How many more miles are we looking at for a six cyl? Do they last longer than the carburated ones? What kind of life have you guys(and gals) got out of yours?---Thanks
300K easy if you continue to care for it. That is the torquiest little beast you will ever have the pleasure of running in that displacement class. Other than the 460, it is my hands down favorite truck engine. Keep care of your coolant system as they have had head problems due to the length of the head and some cooling issues. You can do some incredible torque and power mods to the engine if you want more, visit the 300 I-6 forum and take a look! Take a moment and join Club FTE and enjoy the benefits! Thanks for your service. Semper Fi.
First off, Thank You for your service to our country. Now, as for the truck. Make sure the tranny is good, and keep taking care of the engine with proper maintinence you will get 300k no problems, probably more. I have seen some trucks where the engine was as good as the day it left the showroom but at 350k+ the body started to just flat fall off.
