New guy here.
Vehicle is an '89 F-350 crewcab lwb 4x4 with 7.5L/5 speed. It has 160,000 reliable miles, until now. About 40,000 mi back, the rear fuel pump quit. I replaced it, no problem. Recently, the same pump gave up, again, so I replaced it again. Ever since, the truck is completely unreliable. Now I'm not sure the pump was bad the second time.
Now, the truck will not run at all on rear tank, and only sporadically on front. It may start up right now, and run for an hour, or it may stall in 15 min. I replaced the filter when I replaced the first pump. I also replaced the "reservior". This is where the lines from the two tanks come together into one set of lines. I suspect I have an electrical connection problem on the rear tank, so I'll treat that as a separate problem.
When it stalled in my yard, I quickly felt the fuel pump on the frame, and also the relay under the hood, in case one of them was hot to the touch, but they both felt normal. I'm hesitant to throw more money at it until I get some advice.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

This is my first post. I previously owned a 1992 f250 7.3 IDI. What do you think about this truck i am looking at? Its a 1988 regular cab, only option is power steering and a sliding rear window with 167K the clock, has a 460 with a 4BBL carb ( is that normal on an 88), and a C-6 tranny. Mechanically, the truck seems pretty solid. I drove it around town for about 10 minutes, and then took it on the freeway for another 10. The suspension seems tight, no clunks or drifting. The interior is torn up, seat covered up, door panels have been cut into etc. My concerns are that I might be paying too much. Keep in mind, the truck has a 6 inch lift and 35'' tires, granted those really shouldnt add much value to the truck but i do like that. The body is a bit hammered, no rust but a decent amount of dents and dings or white faded paint, with a badly keyed driver side door. I am thinking of paying between $1200-$1500 tops for this thing. Is that a decent deal? Let me know what you think
