HELP! 460 Issues

Just diassembled the 460 me and my buddy picked up, and it turns out there were *two* blown head gaskets. All kinds of coolant and junk are all over the two of the pistons and cylinder walls. So, since this motor was rebuilt 20k ago, do I only need two pistons or will I need to replace the whole thing? We're pretty much stripping the motor to a short block and starting from there, but keeping the internals would be nice and cheap. We figure it'll cost about 3,800 and change to turn into a street/strip beast, but gotta start at the beginning. Should I have the cylinder walls bored and remachined? Will the coolant thats been sitting there for a while destroy the walls and the piston? Thanks for your help in advance.

strip the engine bare and take the parts to your local machinist who is highly recommended. he will let you know which avenue to take to get your engine running again. if the engine truely has only 20k on it, it may only need to be honed and who knows, the pistons may be able to be cleaned up and reused or you could have rods which have been slightly bent!

as we all have learned the hard way, if you don't have the right tools to do the job, you are better of paying someone who does! paying a machinist takes the guess work out of your rebuild. cheers, garsten
