Generator from 6v to 12v
Wanting to keep fairly stock, I've decided to have my generator re-wound (or whatever they do) to convert to 12V on my 52. Just got a price locally of $150 including the regulator. Does this sound fair ?

From my understanding I have not installed mine yet you can put a 12 volt generator in place of the 6 volt unit by drilling an extra hole in the case of the 12 volt unit. Then you would have a true 12 volt unit that you could easily find parts for.

Most 12 V Ford generators will have the 2 ears front and rear sticking out. You can drill that locating hole and make it work, but it will look like it was jury rigged. You could cut the ears off, but that is a personal call on your part.
I'd call around to a few more shops if you can find any and see what the going rate is.
