ok this winter is going to be my last winter with my truck(the way it is). Right now i have an 89 f150 2wd 300 i-6 and a c6 (used to be a m5). But the body is rusted to crap, the engine has 303,000 miles, looking for a o.d. tranny. but anyways on to the questions... first what can be done from a handling point of view of a f150?? and are thier any kits to put disk brakes on 8.8 axle?? next are there any cheap places for good condition body parts on the net be it new or used? where can i get like the head liner and vinyl floor for one of these trucks?? brand new or in excelent condition. what are my options for a strong o.d. tranny?? when i blew the mazda i went with a c6 because i new it would hold and it has but what are my options an auto over drive tranny, and can i use the shifter on the new stering collumn i will buy?? oh well thats a good list for now i can't wait until summer to revamp my baby
I can help with the disk brakes for the 8.8" Warn sells a Full Floater kit that will convert the semi-floating axle to a full float, and give you disc brakes and rear manual locking hubs!
Heres the part numbers from warn:
Full floater kit: (Part# 61760)
Hublock set for above: (Part# 39301)
Now, I have seen kits out there that just convert to discs, but you might as well go all the way. I think you do have to get the brake parts of a lincoln or something? Anyone know for sure?
Big project-Good Luck!
Rear locking hubs are the same as front locking hubs, you could just put a drive flange on, but, Jeepers use them for flat towing, unlock all the wheels, and there is no chance of drivetrain damage.
