putting on rocker panels
I recently ordered a set of stainless steel rocker panels for my 2001 f-150 and I was looking at the directions and it said to use a de-waxer (to take the wax coating off of the truck) and then top that off by wiping it down with rubbing alcohol.
I wen't to my local hardware/paint store and they had nothin. Auto Zone=nothin. So I was wondering why de-waxer is a need and if anyone else here has used de-waxer on their truck??

I would assume you need to remove the wax so the panels will adhere better, if you didn't the wax could break down over time and your panels will fall off. Not sure what to use as a de-waxer, but I know that dawn removes wax, thats why you aren't supposed to wash your autos with dish soap. Did you try an autobody/paint shop? Seems like something they would have to deal with on occasion.
