who would've thought ...

Last month I picked up a 1990 f350, 7.3 auto, crew cab, long bed, dually. What a truck! But one of the big surprises for me is the dimmer switch. It's on the FLOOR! I've been driving since the 60's and used the floor dimmer switch for 5 or more years until the switch was moved up to the blinker control lever. At the time I thought it was a good move. Now after using one on the floor again, I really like it. What a pleasant surprise.

How many of the SuperDuty's come with the floor dimmer switch?

Has anyone else tried it and liked it?

Just curious.

the floor mounted dimmer switch is used on all ford trucks untill 92 on the f pickup and up to 98 on the bigger f750&f800. My 96 ln9000 also has it on the floor. My only complaint is that if you are in a salty enviroment ,it can deteriorate causing it to stick or not allowing the headlights to work but if kept clean they work great.

We must be getting old. Every now and again I still put my left foot down to dim the h/lites. The one on the steering columb still messes me up when I want to use the turn signal, it's to far away.

Another version of the steering column mounted dimmer switch is on my 2004 model toyota. With it you can flash your brights by pulling the switch back towards you, but to put the brights on, you have to push the switch towards the front of the car. To turn em off you pull back towards the rear of the car. Really hard to get used to at first, but now I like it better than the norm (pull towards the rear to turn on brights, and to turn them off).
Today, I prefer the floor if given the choice.
