bigger tires
OK brother I will be the voice of reason here...
YOU only ever run that beast over 100mph alone and no one else on the road ...RIGHT?
YOU do know that extended high speed will catestropically destroy one or more tires cause you sudden and total loss of control... don't you?
You are aware that for every mile per hour it takes Horse power to propell you forward it takes an exponential amount of braking horse power to stop you... don't you?
If you did not understant the term exponential and apply it to the rotational leverage of larger diameter tires then you should study up some.. Your stock brakes are NOT ENOUGH!
Yes I max top out every vehicle I have ever owned.. I do it form a informed position fully aware of ALL the dangers and never with my family or friends on board and never when I might possibly be a menance to others on the public roads...PERIOD
Sorry this is harsh but I don't want to losse another great V10 owner and fellow FTE member.
Set up your truck to have stump pulling power and exceptional light to light monster accelleration... give up the top speed crap! You did not buy a $40K truck to drag race or road race... yes whooping the occasional (yes It's a Hemi!) jerk is too much fun!
And that arrogant fool in a puny 6.0L deserves to be put in his place.. but you can do all that in easy under 95mph pulls every day!
The 307s are OK tires...you are already experiencing one of their faults... proper balancing is hard to do so most shops just get it sort of good enough..
Second is you have reduced your max load on each axle...compare max weight of factory tires by new max weight. If you never tow heavy this is no biggie
Third....they sure do look cool don't they!
I like em too. But I tow heavy so not for my truck!
Brother please be careful!
Get some miles on the new tires.
Then park her on a Friday night and disconnect the battery ground cable.
Saturday morning hook it back up and start...let her warm up.
Get on the road and shift from N to D go 1/4mile and stop. Shift from N to R and back up some and stop. Shift from N to 3 and back to P. Then N to 3 and go 1/4 mile and stop. Do this pattern through all the gears three times stoping and turning off the key then restart for each new sequence. Accelerate normaly
Do it all over again with tow haul mode ...this time make your 1/4 mile runs significantly harder accelerations... you don't have to tach her out just step on her some to let her know you are serious. Nope you don't need a load but remember this for when you do tow something, and do this re-learn right before the trip with you load on.
There are all sorts of ideas on how to reteach these beasts and this method seems to change the shift pattern some when I do it... I can not find any printed poop on Fords recomended way to re-teach the trany... what is in the owners manual is very vague.
