capet bare spot

I hope this is the proper forum, and a search did not get me much. I just bought a 2002 F350 Lariat. The only cosmetic problem is a CD sized bare spot on the rug in the rear of the cab. Its like someone sanded off the "fuzz"- I dont know if that is what happened, though. It's not a big deal, but I like my vehicles to be near perfect. Any ideas how to fix this??
Thanks,
James

Cover it with a floor mat or recarpet. They make long narrow, 1 piece covers for the back that would work.

I've taken an electric hair trimmer and "shaved" my carpet before, to remove fuzz. Is it possible there was something there before that kept that area original while the rest of the carpet is showing some wear and creating fuzz? If that's the case shave the rest of the carpet to make it the same.

Is the spot completely bare - like down to the weave? It may have just had something heavy sitting in the same spot for a looooong time and didn't get the same wear. Might try taking one of those HD metal dog combs (looks like a garden rake) and try combing the flattened carpet up.

This is how we do it in homes: http://www.ehow.com/how_113128_remove-burn-marks.html

If it's on a contoured area you may need to go to a wrecker and snag a portion of carpet from the same area on another truck or maybe use a heat gun or steamer to help with the contouring.

Forgot one other thing; home carpet typically has two backings and usually you can cut through the the fibers to the primary backing and leave the bottom, secondary backing intact, then glue the piece of carpet to the secondary backing. With the truck carpet you may need to use an alternate secondary backing as I don't think there is one; cut it larger than the hole and glue that in, then glue your patch to that. A heavy piece of cloth like heavy canvas or I think something synthetic would be better in case it gets wet. I'm also not a fan of hot glue... I think PL 400 or premium would do the job .
