Push Botton 4X4 Ford

I have a 92 F-150 with push botton 4wheel drive. when i push the botton i can hear the relays click and when i'm under it i can hear a very small amount of movement in the actuater. the transfer case doesn't switch in to 4X4. If anyone has any ideas on what could be wrong or how i can check for things that are wrong let me know.

maybe check your motor, the one that moves the gears. I have heard of people taping it with a hammer and getting it to work. You may want to do a search in this forum on this topic. There should be several threads out there. Good luck.

Likely the motor is bad. We've done a lot of them at the shop I work at, and through Ford, they're about $500 if memory serves me correctly.

I have seen post on here regarding testing the motor. I just can't remember where, it may have been mentioned in someones reply to testing thier own motor.

give me the floor shift anyday. Thats one of the reasons I bought my truck, it has manual hubs and the manual transfer case. A lot less stuff to go wrong.
