trucks are usually lifted that way because the front sits lower than the rear. if it is a leaf spring suspension the front was probably new springs or new springs and shackles the rear was either blocks or new springs. as for a 2 wheel drive sd the fronts are all coil spring. it was probably longer springs and maybe longer arm mounts. 2wd lifts are usually cheaper. fabtech sell alot of 2wd lift kits. hope this helps
fabtech 2wd 6" lift runs about $1,000
a 4" rcd lift runs about $1,000 also.
check out a wide variety of 2wd superduty lifts at rockymountainsusp.com/fd2_f2_350.htm
Are those lifts just for the front? Or are they front and back. The 6" lift looks to be about what i want. I want to fit 35's. What all will i need to lift this truck safely. Thanks
also this is on a psd not a gasser. I've seen a few v10s on here with 6 or 8"s in the front and 3 in the rear but could i use the gasser kit with the daystar leveling kit on a psd to get about the same results?
Fabtech offers two types of lifts. The first uses drop down brackets and the stock radius arms. Longer coils in the front and a block in the rear. The also offer a performance kit which uses new radius arms (beefy as hell) and new coils, and block for the rear. Using the brackets some guys have had some problems with camber which was corrected with a little bit of tuning. For what it's worth the performance kit with the new arms is the way to go. Every person I've talked to (and I asked quite a few people) recommends the kit. I'm getting mine done in the next couple of weeks ... finally
To answer your question about the psd ... fabtech addresses that with a kit specifically for diesels. About a year ago I don't believe they offered one, the only difference is the springs are rated for the extra weight of the oiler. Good Luck to you.
cool any idea how much the deisel 2wd lift costs? i think i'm going to get the basic 6" kit with blocks to lift it 4 inches in the rear. I like the look of the guy with the 3 pics of his truck one not lifted one lifted 6/3 one lifted. The second one looks great and would be a good starting point. If the fronts not high enough i can add daystars later.

The basic fabtech kit (brackets) runs around $800, the performance kit (new radius arms) with single shocks is around $1400, if you want dual shocks it'll cost you about $300 bucks more for a new coil buckets. If you're going to want to add daystar spacers try to stick with getting the performance kit. The bracket kit may be difficult to allign due to some camber issues. The radius arms will simplify things for you quite a bit, not to mention, it's just a beefier kit all around. Good Luck.
and thats for a deisel right? That would put me about what a leveled 4x4 would be and possible capable of fitting 35's
You would have to check with your local 4x4 shop as come prices tend to vary by location ... but for the most part I've never seen a price difference between the v10 and diesel lifts, on 2wd kits anyways.
With these kits, you can't really compare price to a 4x4 kit, it's a whole other animal. 4X4 Kits are leafs springs, shackles, etc. A 2wd kit contains coils, and radius arms. You're better off a looking at the kit for what it is ... a 2WD kit ... which is mostly for looks, maybe a little better clearance and traction.
With the 6" kit you should be able to run 35's, I believe thats the tallest kit made for 2wd trucks. With the Daystars you might be able to stick 36's in there depending on the tire brand.
you may want to hold off on ordering for another couple of weeks. Fabtech is releasing their dirt logic shocks, coil overs, etc. From what I heard they may be changing their 2wd and 05+ 4wd kits to use coil overs. I don't know how true that is, but it may be a worth while option for those of us with coils. Also when the dirt logics hit the market the price on the regular kits may come down. I don't now how solid this info is, but a good buddy gave me the advice to hold off for about a month. The Dirt Logics are scheduled to hit the market late March.
so you have a 2wd or 4wd oh and i don't plan on doing much offroading i just want the clearance and i love the look of a 250 lifted. A friend of mine has a 4x4 with 35's its an 03psd cc srw short bed i want the same look i just can't afford the maintanice of a 4wd. Also getting the 2wd lets me get just about all the options i want. Thanks fn250.
