Repair/ Maintainance dificulty?

Ok so I was thinking... (Run for cover)

We all do a lot of the maintainance of our trucks ourselves.

How hard would it be to when you do something that that most will do in the lifetime of owning our trucks, post up a little "how to" but mostly inform the next guy how dififult you found the job and the lever of skill you have with a wrench.

Like for me over the pst weekend I changed the oil, as well as put in a new paper air filter.

I would say changing the oil was like a 4 out of 10.
(1 being able do do the work blind folded and 10 needing to take it to a mechanic do not try at home.)

The thing that made it most difficult was the placement of the oil filter. I have changed the oil in all of my other vechicles (94 Isuzu Amigo, 92 Yamaha FZR 600, and the wifes 98 Mitsu Diamante) and never have I had such a hard time with the filter. I on a whim/impulse bought a visegrip type of oil filter clamp and boy did it come in handy, I usually just use a pair of chanel locks, Not this time.

I also changed the air filter 2.5 out of 10.

I changed the transfer case oil because it was making a grinding noise on slow turns and I would say it was about a 6. Only because putting the oil in the transfer case was hard.

I had a bottle that I had to use with a extension tube. It was a pain, I use a mixture of lucas oil and gear lube 50/50 mix. The grinding noise went away, and the dealer told me that it was normal, what a bunch of idiots.

Man you guys have it rough. I swear by the remote oil filter on my 99. I see where they tapped it off the engine block and would not perfer to do a filter if located there. Maybe the factory or aftermarket filter is the way to go. As far as the transfer case I would give this a 2. The worst part was draining the oil and not having it run all over the cross plate. As far as putting oil in I picked up a pump that screws onto quart bottles for about 2 bucks. I will add one and say that the plugs are an easy 6-7 just because of the time it wastes doing the number 4 plug.
