Question Question about checking SCA's in cold weather??

Hey guys, Quick question. I haven't checked my sca's for a little while now, and it's due for a check. I was just checking over the directions and found out that the coolant should be between 50-130* before checking. obviousely the truck itself needs to be cold to open up the overflow, (i'm checking it from here not the petcock, i see no need to do it that way) because i live in the lovely state of MA, it's a nice brisk 30* out, and it's not warming up any time soon. First off, how many people do check this from the overflow and not the petcock, (i figured because the last time i added sca's in there, it circulated very quickely, so it must be fresh coolant in there.) second, how should i go about checking this? if i plug it in all night.... will it circulate all the way through the system and heat the overflow? or am i better off just trying to take a sample and bring it inside to warm up? bringing her into the garage unfortunately isn't an option becasue she's too long to fit in there, and i won't be able to close the door . any ideas would be great... thanks!

I drain from the pet **** after i get it warmed up and then let it set at room temp for a little bit.
I don't know about your set up but for me it's easyer to drain from the pet **** then to get a sample from the overflow.
