Can anyone tell me about an electric powered fan that replaces the typical clutch fan on a 7.3 Diesel? It is supposed to cut off when accelerating or it has a switch control that you can cut the fan off in cold weather.
Thanks,
manopause
I am a new user. I have had this old truck for about four years and I really like the 7.3 turbo but have found it is very expensive to work on so I do as much as my experience lets me which is not much.

There are several manufacturers of fans for vehicles. They completely replace the clutch and fan assembly on the motor. Kits come with a shroud that attaches to the radiator and can be wired very easily. It gives you a little more HP (though not a lot) by reducing drag in the engine. Also great for cold mornings since diesels take so long to warm up. Lots of aftermarket companies carry em, also check out ebay or Motorhaven. Also cruise over to the PSD forums for lots of info.
