1991 ranger 2.3 230,000 mi runs ok but poor mileage and down a little on power, have a code 88, but not for sure what to do with it, thanks for any help you can give me
I had the 1994 code (224) when I got my AC clutch coil fixed. The mech was wondering if I had driven in with the issue, but my tach wasn't reading half the rpms at idle when I came in, that's for sure. We had to tug on a wire leading to the front coil pack to get the t-stat access we needed. That stuck in my mind.
Anyway, in short, we traced all the wires (well, not that there are THAT many) to and from the coils and pressed them all back in place to their connectors and that solved the issue.
Hope that is your and not a whole bad coil or something semi-costly like that.
