Broken Trans Mount
I need to know if there is a fix, other than new trans, when an "ear" is broken off of where the tail of the trans bolts to the crossmember.
I have a 1980 4X4 w/5.0

I'm presuming the ear on the tranny itself? That is a fairly hard fix, however you can, if your mount is intact and the other side okay, tie the trans down until you can get it replaced/rewelded. Just make sure that the ground is a absolutely close to the point of weld as possible to prevent arcing within the transmission if you go that route. You may be able to fabricate a saddle from some 1/2" stock and secure the tailshaft that way. Sometimes you've got to improvise, adapt, and overcome.
