E4OD problems

I have a 1992 f150 5.0L E4OD transmission

The transmission is bad. Is it possible to swap this out with an AOD transmission. What I would really like to do is go with a basic non computer controled transmission and a carb instead of fuel injection. Anyone know where i can get a setup like this.

When I purchased the truck I was told the transmission slips and I could get one for $300.00 (boy was this wrong). Anyway if you put it in R or D the engine dies.
If you hold your foot on the gas and put it in gear and then try and rev the motor while holding the brake the motor does not rev up. Normally on a truck if you put it in gear and hold the brake and then rev it up you can hear and fell the motor and the truck tryies to pull away. This one just seems to bog the motor. Maybe other problems as well

I don't have alot of experience with Fords but it sounds like the torque converter is locked up. There might be a bad sensor keeping it from unlocking, thats what it sounds like to me, I am sure somebody on here knows.

First, check fluid level.

Most likely, the converter is toast, but could be something as simple as the TC Solenoid stuck. Assuming nothing else is wrong with the trans, you'd be better off replacing the TC and solenoid. If it need a complete rebuild, you're looking at $1200 to $1800.

To answer you're question about converting to old style aod, you'd need a donor truck to make it easy. You'll need the trans (duh), kickdown linkage, and carb/fi linkage. If you must convert to carb as well, you might as well get the intake, carb, distributor, ignition module, and various pieces of the wiring harness to go with it. You'd be better off to just convert the trans and not the engine to carb.

There is no way to lockup the converter in first or reverse gear on E4OD trannies since there is and hydraulic lock to prevent it, unless the converter is totally faulty and gets full locked, not often...
