I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this question but here it goes anyway. I recently ordered an 05 F250 SD diesel crew cab 4x4 king ranch. I am sure the truck will probably come with continental tires which I've read are terrible. The size is 275/70/R18. On all my past trucks, I have traded factory tires for either BFG AT's or BFG MT's. Looking at BFG's website, I see they now make a LT285/65/R18/D. Will these tires work on the new truck. I know the load rating is "D" rather than "E" and they are recommended for rim widths of 8 to 10. Are they a heavy duty enough tire to replace the 10 ply stock tires? It also looks like the overall diameter is 0.7 larger with the BFG's. Heaviest load I will be pulling is a 6000# camper. Most of my truck use is for hunting or camping.
Why don't you go to each of the mfg'ers websites and get a comparison between the two.
I can't see where you'll go wrong if th BFG's are equal to or greater than.
The Ford Truck shop service manager would be the most likely person to give you advice on this one.
My '04 came with Pirellis and I was highly skeptical about taking the truck with those tires, but so far they've turned out to be OK.
If all you are going to haul is 6k the D rated tires will probably work great if you will tow/haul more than this you might not be satisfied with them as with the lighter sidewall they tend to walk arround a bit with a load
good luck!! have fun with the new rig
