SD Suspension question?

I Just recently bought a 250 long bed crew cab, 2 wheel drive. For what I'll be using this truck for I didn't really need 4wd and when I do go on back roads I usually take it pretty easy. There will be some times though when I need a little clearance to get through some West Texas ranch roads through washes and dry creek beds. For that reason, as well as for looks (I'll admit, the extra clearance on the 4wd's looks cool), I'd like to add a little elevation to my suspension. All of the leveling and lift kits I have read about start at 4" or 6" and up, or they affect the warranty. All I'm looking for is about 2-3" in the front and 1-2" in the back to accomodate a slightly larger tire and level the truck slightly without affecting handling too much.

Is there a way I can accomplish this and stay within OEM specs and not affect my warranty? Will a dealer service center help me with this? If any one has suggestions on the best way to accomplish this task I would appreciate your suggestions.

As far as the warranty goes.. if you modify the suspension the warranty won't cover a suspension related problem. If for instance your radio breaks, they can't void your warranty because you lifted it.

There are a few companies out there that have what you are looking for. The rear is no problem.. just go to any truck accessorie store and get a rear block that is 1-2" bigger than your factory one. If you have a pre-05 truck then you could upgrade to f350 rear blocks which are about 2" larger. If your truck is an 05 you will need to buy an aftermarket rear block as they both use the same size block. In the front you can get a coil spring spacer that will lift that 2-3" you are looking for while at the same time keeping your factory ride. Daystar makes a 2" spring spacer for about 100 bucks. I got that price at rockymountainsusp(.)com.

good luck.

I have an 04 2wd and went with the 2" daystar spring spacer to level it out.
Total cost was $100 for spacer, $150 for labor and another $130 for front end alignment.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the advice. As I have read through the threads on this forum I have noticed that it seems that in most places Dealers don't like alterations in suspension. I saw one poster that mentioned Texas dealers taking a different attitude so I went to my Dealer (Red Mccombs in San Antonio) and the service rep told me the same thing you guys are saying, even showed me a couple of trucks on the lot where they had allready made those same alterations. I asked if they would make them for me and he said they farm it out and gave me the name of the pace they use. When I got there (4 wheel Parts) they showed me that my truck did not have any bocks in the rear, the leafs were attached directly to the mounting bracket on the springs. I'm adding 1 1/2" blocks to the rear and 2 1/2" Daystar spacers to the springs in front.again, thanks for you advice.
