#1 Plug

Ok.Just wondering if anyone can tell me how they got their hand on or near the #1 plug. Have yet to attempt this again since I did the tune up about 2 weeks ago due to a bad case of poison ivy. As a matter of fact, my wrist and knuckles were just about healed up and then the poison broke out. I can see the plug when looking in from the passanger side tire. Just can't reach in to pull the boot off. If I could get that off I know I could get a long extention in there to change the plug. I tried from the inside of the van (engine cover off of course) but just could not fit my hand in and back far enough to pull the boot!!! Any suggestions most appreciated!!! Oh yea, she's a 93 E150 club wagon, 351/5.8L. Wish I had my haynes manual here at work, I guess it would be helpful to give the plug order...I think it may be

I suggest you take the nearest kid, (I use my grand-daughter of eight) and hold him/her up where they can reach in and grab ahold of the wire/wrench/bolt. I've used this highly scientific method for years, and it's worked well for me. Warning: do NOT use this method if the kids are dressed for church and grandma is about.

Hmmm... I don't have the van, but on my f-150 I could get it from underneath. Just make sure the engine is cold.

The van may be a problem though.

I try and use the spark-plug pliers. They usually work like a charm.
