Ball Joint

I have a 2001 Ford Ranger XLT 2wd, my upper LH ball joint has gone bad,how hard is it to replace, or do I need to let a ford dealer fix it?

i believe there is a link in the tech info sticky about changing ball joints. you can do it yourself, its not that bad. I believe autozone has a loaner ball joint press.

i had one go out on my 2000. i bought all new moog balljoints with the grease zerks and replaced all four and had it aligned. If you have the right tools its easy but if you don't its a pain in the butt to replace them. and don't let anyone tell you tthat you have to replace the controls arms to get new balljoints. But to be honest with you, its easier to replace the whole control arm

If you do decide to replace the control arm use moog parts.
