Just bought an F-150 6, 5 speed Mazda. It shifts hard into second sometimes. About half the time I think. Can be pulled into gear but its hard. Other times no problem. Have changed the fluid. Wondering in it is a sychro that is warn. 160,000 miles.
Check to make sure that there is fluid in the clutch resevoir. It is located next to your brake master cylinder on the driver's side firewall. Unscrew the cap and remove the little rubber dodad and look to see if there is fluid in it. If not add some DOT3 brake fluid to the fill line. Pump the clutch pedal a few times and check the level again. I always have to keep an eye on mine.
If it is full, and it is hard to shift it may be your slave cylinder has gone bad. I replaced mine at about 137,000. If it is a bad syncro(s), I would think that there would be some grinding involved when you try to shift gears.
Hope this helps.
