2005 Owners Beware

Just got my first dent today in my two week old 250, and it's all ford's fault! Washed the salt off the truck and found a ping in the back fender- an outward ping. WTF?
How did that happen? Well ford removed the rear fender liners to save $35.00, and this left the opportunity for a bit of gravel to ricochet up into the fender and dent the metal out.
Although I had the intentions of re-fitting most of the stuff that ford deleted, I didn't act quickly enough. So, beware, order your fender liners before your truck comes in, and have the dealer install them.

What all did Ford delete? Does anyone happen to have part numbers for all the right stuff that needs to go back on? I'm an SD n00b - wasn't aware Ford deleted anything like this.

Thanks,
Terry

I purchased a sheet 0f 1/16 " sheet of ABS plastic and relaced the fender guards myself. I got the idea from another FTE member who completely lined his inner fender wells with this material. A 4'x8' sheet is around 40 bucks at a plastic supply . I had installed Huskey splash guards and used this ABS to fill in the area that the splash guard misses. I am undecided whether I will line the whole inner fender well as I like to be able to hose off my springs and inner fenders after getting mud up there.

Ive got about 10k on my 05 already and I really never worried about that. I would like to buy some ABS plastic sheets though and line it. Where do you find something like that? Hobby Stores? Hobby Lobby?

If your truck does not have the rear wheel well liners, here are the part numbers for them:

(2) F81Z*9928370*CA list 34.52ea
(2) F81Z*9928370*AA list 26.32ea
(4) *389358*S list .79ea
these go in the rear wheel wells from about 2 o'clock to 5 o'clock and 7 o'clock to 11 o'clock so that the mud/snow/spray doesnt get thrown into each end of the fender

Wheel Opening Liners

This applies to 2004 models also--That's when Ford stopped putting them on. Luckily my 2003 has them.

Are we talking about the covers...from bed down to frame or the ones in front of and behind each wheel.

They are talking about the curved ones inside the rear wheel wells.
