Make sure it's hooked up like this. The "A" wire should have the system voltage on it. This is the wire that tells the regulator what the system voltage is.
The "S" wire in this system comes from the ignition switch, and tells the regulator to bring the alternator "online" when you turn the key.
The "F" wire sends out a varying voltage to tell the alternator to charge more or less.
From your previous test, it sounds like the alternator is good.
Well, I finally got it to work. I had to change out the core support, and I realized that the donor truck for it had the voltage regulator bolted to the support. I pulled that one and used it. (I never refuse free parts!) The sytem is now charging at 14. I am going to get the battery tested soon, because it drags on starting, and it shouldn't, especially since I hadve a gear reduction starter on it. Thanks again for all of your help. My next headache will be the heater blower. I'm going to post about it in the cooling section.
a am having the same problem too but i will go out and try to fix it thanks franklin for the good ideas now not to hijack the thread but i can't get voltage at the s terminal
