I just got a 04-05 audiophile cd6 headunit and have a slight problem. I had no problem installing it. It powered on just fine and the radio works great. The only problem is that the cd changer does not seem to be working. The guy I bought it from forgot to take out 3 cds and now I can not get them out. it says eject error and I can not even play them either. Any ideas on how to fix this or am I going to need to go to the dealership? Thanks for any replies.
Do you know this guy personally, or was this a buy off of ebay? It could be that you were sold a bad head unit. You might want to check down in the Audio and Video systems forum. Someone may have experienced a similar failure.
I don't know the guy personally but it was working before he shipped it to me. He thought that a cd might have been jarred loose during shipment. He will stand behind the radio if I want to ship it back to him and have his dealer look at it. I thought it might be easier if I have my dealer look at it. I wonder though, if I bought the headunit on ebay, will Ford cover it under warranty because it is a factory radio or is the warranty now void on it. If so, I can just send it back to him to have the original dealer look at it.
The warranty is only good if the item is still installed on the truck it came from the factory in. If the seller is ok with it, I would take him up on the offer to have it looked at. Whenever it comes to electronic items, I am very leery of used items (Because of transactions like you are having now).
He shipped you a radio that still had 3 of his CD's in it? He knew they couldn't be ejected, he just unloaded his problem on you....no one gives away their CD's to a stranger like that
I hope for your sake the person you bought the 6 cd changer from was'nt
Roger Nowakowski with a address of 26162 Glasgow Dr. in South Riding Va.
or 1939 Roland Clarke Place in Reston Va.
because if it is, he sold you the same defective unit that he sold me. Needless to say, after he got my money and then the returned defective unit, he does'nt answer my e-mails or phone calls.
I will be sending it back to him to have him his dealership look a it. He is From Michigan. real nice guy with 100% feedback rating with 95 feedback. so, I trust him. When he pulled the radio out of his truck, he forgot that he had 3 cd's in it still and e-mailed me the day he sent to let me know and ask if i could send the cds back to him. he even is going to pay for the shipping to have the cd's returned to him. I am guessing that this was a case of a cd getting dislidged or some mechanism getting jarred loose during shipping. I just thought maybe there was a simple fix to get the cd's out. I am going to try tapping it a couple more times to see if I can get the cd or mechanism to get back in place. How would the dealership know if it was on the truck when it came from the factory (besides the obvious fact that they could look it up). What I mean is that what if I upgrade it from the dealership or another dealership. I know you can buy the factory radio after the fact. So, how could they say they can't or won't work on it. Thanks again for any replies.
Just a quick update:
I decided instead of waiting for my appointment, I would try to fix it myself. I thought that a cd may have been jarred loose or one of the cassettes that holds a cd might have been loose. I took the radio apart and saw the three cds. I got them out just by prying them out. Then I noticed that one of the plastic pieces that goes into a channel along the side of the changer looked out of place. After fumbling for about 20 min. I got all of the plastic pieces back into the channels that I thought they shouold have gone into. I reassembled the radio and BAM! radio and cd palyer work for my new audiophile headunit. I am thrilled. I will keep my fingers crossed that this fix was permanent. Now all I need is a factory sub and amp to complete my system!
