Drove the speed limit today (something I hardly ever do) on a 224 mile round trip. It was mostly two lane road and some interstate driving with a little stop and go traffic in a couple of towns and got 14.2 on the computer. It has always been within a tenth of correct when I've checked it before. I never got any better on my 5.4 and this truck can do so much more. Although it's hard to go a whole day with out spitting some rams and bowties out the exhaust.
Maybe uncle sam could stop this manipulation of these fuel prices. It was 1.45/gal in Atlanta in January and now at the same station today it was 1.88/gal what a crock of crap . It didn't take any more to get this gas than it did 6 weeks ago. Sounds like price gouging to me and some one needs to have their hands slapped before it goes any farther. I think this could do alot of damage to a recovering economy. When people can go they spend money and everbody gains from money changing hands. Hey just my opinion

o5v10 ,That is good mileage and you just got that truck so she's far from broken in. I peek in at the 5.4 forum and these V10s are very comparable economy wise. It still blows me away how many people think a V10 is a 6MPG motor. I tell people its only a little over 400 cubes, its not a real big motor, just a real big performer. I think the big 8.something V10 that they used to put in Rams had a lot to do with negativity towards V10s. That motor was a notorious gas glutten and that is why they replaced it with the hemi-rod which I think is a real over rated motor. As far as gas here in Western Canada we are paying 92 cents a litre. 1 US gal =3.78 litres so we are paying around 3.48 a Gal. for gas. Diesel is a little higher. Good luck with your new wheels and what brand of gas got you 14.2 . thanks, Wrenchtraveller

It's a 4 wheel drive c-cab with 18's and 4.30's and it turned over 26,000 miles yesterday. It seems like it takes for ever when you drive at 55 miles per hour to get somewhere. I have never gotten below the 10's even pulling a 16' double axle trailer loaded with a tractor and farm equipment for the hunting club work. Great truck just wish I had gotten one sooner. In typical everyday driving I usually get 12- 13 mpg.
I was talking to a guy the other day and his dad bought a new ram duelly with a diesel and was going to tow a 30 ft 5th wheel to mexico and get 20 miles per gal, low and behold the best he got was 10 on the flat , man he`s not happy , i told him the next time he figured his milage he should round up , so he felt better.
Unfortunately I hear this all the time.. and fortunately for the Dodge owner that motor will do much better over time..some diesels take over 18,000 miles just to get broke in! But you are right he will never ever get 20 mpg out of it. I bet it ends up realistically at 14-16 mpg towing.
