Looks like I am off to the shop with my 2004 250 SD w/14,500 miles.
Yesterday my radio/CD player quit, my power windows quit, and the damper control for my heater quit (only blows thru defrost vent and will not change). All at the same time. Could not find that there was a common fuse and all associated fuses I checked looked good.
And in the last few days, I noticed when I turn sharply left, I hear and feel a popping or thumping noise in the front, seems to be coming from the left front wheel area. Sorta feels like a bad or stiff U-joint.
Anyone else had any similar problems?
Had the electrical problem on my 05 f350 brand new on dealer lot the day I bought it. They had to replace the instrument cluster. I thought they were full of it, but after they replaced it everything worked fine. Apperantly cluster acts as a feed through somehow for power. Didnt make much sense to me, but its fixed
Got the answer to the electrical. Ford service advisor said "that's the biggest rats nest I have ever seen". Apparently a local rodent decided to take up residence under my hood and lunch on my wiring. $550!
Got my truck back now. Electrical problem noted above. Service advisor said the front end noise was made by the front hubs sticking. Even though they were not locked, apparently they would bind on a sharp turn. He said one version of the hubs had been a problem so they replaced both of them on my truck.
