1) How does one tell the difference without pulling the pan? My truck is a 65 Ford F-240 4x2.
2) Is there any book out there that talks about the I-6 I have found plenty on V-8's.
Any help in what cuboc inch I have would be appreceiated.
pull a plug and pull a small dowel or stiff wire down there. Turn the motor over by hand and measure how far the dowel or wire moves. 4" (3.98) = a 300.
My Haynes manual for the van talks about the motors in some detail with torque, wear and factor clearance specs.
This is by no means as accurate as measuring the stroke but if it has a 2 groove pulley on the ballancer it's probably a 240, 3 grooves for the 300. Matt.
There really isn't one that's better than the one foMoCo puts out.
So far, from my experiences, they either don't give you enough Intele to go w/ or to much useless Intele & you are overloaded w/ it.
A Haynes manual will have most of the vital info, torque specs, tolerence specs etc. I think they're better than Chiltons but others will disagree. Matt.
