Hey guys! Been on this forum for a while, and have learned a whole lot here. Was wondering if you could help me out. My buddy and I went in on a 460 bolted to a C6 auto out of a UHaul truck for 200. Haven't tested her out yet, but says she runs (don't really care if she does or not, everything is getting overhualed). The factory sticker is still on the block, and was wondering if there is anywhere I can punch in the code on it to learn more about the block (what year, etc). Also, I was looking through Summit and there are two types of 460's apparently. They list one as a 7.5 and the other as an 8.0 but both are 460 (how?) and how do I know if I have an FE or 385? Sorry about all the newb questions, but I'm new to big blocks
We picked it up cheap, and figured it would be great to tinker around with, and would be relatively simple without all this fuel injection computer nonsense, and best way to learn is hands on, so we'll be overhaulin it. Are there any dyno sheets available for a completely stock 460? Thanks in advance guys!
Look by the starter and get the part numebr from the block I am not sure if the FE had the number in the same place or not. What year truck was the motor from? I know the FE motors were common in the u-haul trucks and I don't recall one having a 460 but I could be wrong.
FE's were in uhual's during the early 70's, then in around the mid to late 70's they were common with 351m/400 , then around 82-83 they started getting 460's and also 351W's were seen sometimes. 460's are a great platform to start from they're good stock awesome built to the max
