is this guy nuts? I payed $700 for my 60 f100, $300 for my 65 C10 with a 350 stroked to 383.. I have never paid more the $1000 for any truck or car I have had or have.. I cant see why someone would pay so much for a rust bucket when with a little looking one can find a truck or cars oneself could rodded out the way one wants...

I like Rat rods, like the one Jesse James just built on Monster garage, but that one should never be allowed on the highway, it's just plain unsafe. If they were going to put the effort into building it, they really could have found a much better body to start with.
Or maybe they were trying to make a statement by building the rattiest rod possible.

You know, I looked at the "truck" when AX first started this thread and thought "My God, what a decrepit old pile of junk". That looks like what I would come up with if I tried to do a hot rod (and seriously, I have no taste whatsoever).
I'm trying to magine what it would look like if someone took the time to restore it to the best condition possible, while keeping all the "hot rod" components, including the mailbox, wooden seat, and wooden seat back. Since I truly have no taste and very little imagination, I can't form a good picture in my mind. Would it really be as hideous as it looks now, just shined up? Would it be worth $6k even restored?
If it were Big Daddy Don Garlits' first hot rod or something similar, I could see some historical or nostalgic value. As is, it seems like just another bunch of bits and pieces stuck together and then rusted out.
From the guy with no imagination in Ohio ...

Mike,
If you think I'm being too harsh, remember, I have very little imagination.
If you think I'm giving it too much credit, remember, I have no taste.
Got it covered either way.
I gotta admit I'm a detail man, like most engineers I think. Some of us are short on artistic flair and creativity, except in our specific fields. Guilty as charged.
