Sunroof

We just bought a 05 Aviator and had them install a moonroof. We thought this would be a clean (factory) installation however it was sent to a local installer instead. We are not happy with the appearance now that its installed. The original console was long (sunglasses holder, map lights, homelink). They cut off the overhead console at the map lights and put in a flat panel with a switch in the middle covered in headliner. It looks like a home job. Is there a stock short console that includes moonroof switch that we can replace this with? It doesn't have to be Lincoln, maybe an Explorer console or something. Any suggestions? Thanks!

I went through this on a 1991 Lincoln Mark VII I bought used (Program Car) way back in 1992. It didn't have the factory sunroof (they told me it did on the phone).

I bought the car anyway because it really was a steal, and they sent the car to ASC in Maryland. ASC is a first-rate company for this sort of thing but even the job THEY did didn't really make me happy.

By necessity, the headliner was kinda pulled tight and flat instead of being tucked up and secured nicely along the roof like it would be in a factory install. This created massive headroom issues for me and I ended up selling the car a year later because of it.

Again, it is simply the nature of a non-factory install. ASC does impressive work but even they are limited by reality when it comes to non-factory installs.

1) Lincoln built an Aviator WITHOUT a moonroof? Amazing.

2) There are any number of small, overhead consoles that Ford uses in various vehicles with a moonroof. Personally, I like the appearance of the one in the F250/350 Crew Cab the best. I think its "styling" would complement a Lincoln interior nicely.
