Im interested in learning about the flow charecteristics of a dedicated pipe for each side of a V8 (no crossovers) versus an x pipe versus an H pipe, I would like to know how all 3 choices affect flow and power levels, and as a secondary curiosity am interested in how it affects sound.
Crossovers help to even out the exhaust pulses, thus giving an even sound and helping improve overall flow characteristics. No numbers off the top of my head, but I have seen the increases on street/strip cars.
When I had my true dual setup done I ran without a crossover pipe for a couple of weeks and it didn't feel very strong down low, I had a crossover pipe added to it and now it runs much stronger and sounds better.
I agree with the flow being evened out. I got a 84 K-5 sittin outside with true-dual flowmasters with no crossover. I can see one pipe shooting out more smoke than the other.
