What length tow rope does your skier use? Do you have trim tabs on the boat?

I think the skiers use 65' lines.
I am not really sure though, I didn't ski or race the boat, I only programmed the engine.

We don't use trim tabs, we were looking at them, but our boat is so much lighter than the big block chevies, especially in the rear where it matters, we didn't feel that it would be worthwhile, we will look at them for next year though...

An old RX-7 would be best.

107 mph with skiers behind it? Wouldn't that hurt just a little if you crahsed and burned in the water? Taking a guess at that kinda speed it'd be like hitting pavement wouldn't it?

Yup, at that speed it would just be like pavement...

The skiers that are behind the boat have been racing since they have been early teenagers though, and they wear full facce helmets, and body armor.

I still wouldn't do it though...

Had approx 1000hp when we did the run, we detune it to around 800hp for endurance events though.
We are going to start winding the power out of it soon though.

Triple rotaries should be capable of around 1400hp.

It was beating Twin supercharged alcohol chevy big blocks, engines with 4 times the capacity, and ours runs on pump gas (premium).

Right after the Wankel engine was introduced, SOMEBODY was putting them in small boats. I don't know if they were "ski boats," but they did exist. There were photographs of them in an early issue of ROAD TEST magazine, a publication that did more to champion the Wankel than any other. These boats were built sometime in the 60's, and that's all I remember about them.

Gotta ask - WHO did you find brave enough to ski behind that at 107mph!? I get yelled at when I push 35 with a skier!

Thanks for that Jeff, I will try to find more details.

As for who the skiers are, the boat owners brother, and another professional skier.
Both have been professionally racing as water skiers for 20 odd years.
Both of them are built like tanks too...

I would FREAK at 107 mph on the water, much less on a pair of boards strapped to my feet...

I packed my pants when I was in the boat at 115mph.
The thing was doing 30ft long jumps over merely ripples...

As you can see from the video (in which approx 100mph was hit) its a rather scary experience.
