I have a 1986 F150 4x4 300 6 cylinder. I replaced the engine with a reman from Ford. When I started up the engine there is a miss in the number two cylinder. This is not a random miss. It is happening only in the #2 cylinder. The engine runs fine otherwise. I'm looking for some input and advice on what to look for.
I'm thinking that one or both valves are not sealing in this cylinder. Compression is good, Pushrods checked and are ok. Igintion checks out ok also.
if compression is good its not a valve problem a vacuum leak bad plug or plug wire is more likley it or a possible bad cam but that should show on a compression check as higher than the rest or lower than the rest
Is this Efi or carbed I'll assume carbed i believe they only fuel injected the 302 in that year. You said ignition checked ok did you do a resistance check on the plug wires, could also be a bad plug or distributor cap..... if fuel injected it could be a bad injector...hard to believe if compression is ok that any of the valve train would be at fault....just my two cents although my wife says i have no sence
