I am looking for feedback on the shop manuals offered by Motorhaven. The manual for my '92 F250 is a little spendy at $90 but am willing to pay it if is a thorough manual. Haynes and Chiltons manuals are vague and often provide generic information because they cover multiple years and/or models. If you have purchased one of the Motorhaven shop manuals, would you let me know how you like it?
The manuals listed in Motorhaven appear to be the Ford factory shop manuals. I would very much recommend getting one. When it arrives, you'll toss your Chiltons/Haynes in the trash.
Actually, there is one thing the Chiltons/Haynes do better than the factory manuals: They give instructions on how to do certain procedures using backyard mechanic tools. The factory manuals assume a shop equipped with the full set of Ford special tools.
Helm didn't carry my 88 shop manual so i got one from Bishko Autobooks. I got Volume A and B. Volume A covers the entire vehicle Volume B is engine specific. It is huge, over 6" thick of double-sided paper but extrememly complete.
or you could look on e-bay and get the manual on cd if you have a computer. I got the entire set of manuals (six, I believe) for my 94 F-150 - all for $50.00. Just a thought.
How about using an online service. I use alldata. their do it you self version is only $19.95 a year. It looks to me to be the ford shop manual put into html form. It has everything. not a bad service.
Try this link they have the 2 volume set for $89

or try Ebay I got a Factory CD plus a disk with technical service bulletins on it for $10 for my Bronco. It covers 93 + 94 trucks. You can get some really good deals if your not in a hurry.

All the shop/service manuals in the store are one of the following:
1. Helms manuals (ie, orignal Ford manuals)
2. Licensed reproductions (for manuals Helms no longer prints for Ford).
The specific manual you mentioned is indeed a Helms, extremely thorough. While I can't knock most of the other replies, I will say that Alldata sent us one of their manuals on CD-ROM in the hope that we would sell them after evaluating them.... take a look at the store: you won't find Alldata in it. :-)
