I just completed changing the timing belt on my 1996 ranger
every thing is right.(beleive me I took it apart 6 times)
all the marks are where they are supposed to be.
The truck starts fine it idles a little rough I had to change a couple of deterorated vacuum lines tho.
And now the big problem .The truck top speed is 45 mph.
it shifts a little hard (automatic)
I have changed 3 plugs still working on that wonderful project if anyone has an easy way I sure could use the advice as well as the plug wires
next project will be the fuel filter.
If anyone has a idea why only 45 mph I sure could use the help

Any chance you left off a vacuum hose or a plug. If everything is installed properly (timing belt), my guess would be a vacuum line since it is idling a little rough.
Regarding the plugs, access is a little easier if you can remove the inner fender wells. It's not that difficlut and the extra time to do this will be more than made up in less time needed to pull the plugs because of the easier access.
I dont think I damaged the sensor ot was easy to get off I had a puller
also pulling the fiender walls isnt the issue it's getting between the intake manifold as far as getting to the plugs and installing the new wires I have also checked the vacuum lines and found no leaks
